Welcome Chris Styers – New Assistant Scout Executive

styers photoChristopher F. Styers, currently Field Director of the Pennsylvania Dutch Council (headquartered in Lancaster, PA), will become the Assistant Scout Executive of the New Birth of Freedom Council on August 8, 2016.

A 2005 graduate of Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Political Science, Chris began his professional Scouting career with the Juniata Valley Council (headquartered in Reedsville, PA) as a District Executive in October 2006.  He was promoted to Senior District Executive in January 2010.  Chris also served as Program Director for two seasons and Camp Director for three seasons at Seven Mountains Scout Camp.

An Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, Chris became Field Director of the Pennsylvania Dutch Council in February 2012 and has been serving successfully in that role since that time.  Chris has served on National Camp School staff three times (Program and Day Camp Administration sections) and he completed Wood Badge for the 21st Century in 2014.

As Assistant Scout Executive, Chris serves as Chief Operating Officer for the council and directs the council’s field staff.
