Summit Shakedown

Help Test The Summit!

This is an exciting opportunity for youth and adults to be among the first to camp at the Bechtel Summit Reserve and plan an important role in the final planning process for the 2013 National Scout Jamboree. The Summit Shakedown dates are July 13-17, 2012. The New Birth of Freedom Council contingent will be limited to 36 youth and 4 adults on a first-come, first-served basis.

To attend, Scouts must have completed the sixth grade, or will be at least 12 years old and a 1st Class Scout by July 1, 2012, but have not reached their 18th birthday by July 13, 2012.  After our troop has been filled, a stand-by list of alternates will be established.  When made available, contingent member will be required to submit a completed High Adventure BSA Medical form signed by a licensed physician and indicating compliance with specified immunizations.

The program elements to be included are those which are new to the Summit Jamboree model.

Program Elements Will Include:

  • Climbing
  • Rappelling
  • Canopy tours
  • Zip lines
  • BMX
  • Skateboarding
  • Hiking the Summit
  • Whitewater rafting

Cost:

$400 per person which includes all meals, tents and cooking equipment, all transportation cost and a recognition T-Shirt and Hat.

Participants are responsible to bring:

Personal gear including: clothing, sleeping bag, flashlight and toiletries.

Adult Leadership:

Registered adult leaders that wish to apply for one of the four leadership position in the contingent must complete an application. All adult leader applications will be reviewed by the New Birth of Freedom Council High Adventure Committee and adults selected will be notified.
