Prepare for the Climb to Eagle
Each year we provide a few opportunities for leaders, scouts, and their parents, to learn more about the Eagle Process. This year it will be on April 28th at King Street Church Baker Center beginning at 7:00 PM.

We STRONGLY encourage all Scoutmasters and troop advancement committee members to attend this overview of the process. There are some changes to how the Eagle process in run and some changes in responsibility between the Council, the District, and the Troop.
For parents and Scouts, If you are a Star or Life Scout this meeting will offer excellent suggestions for you both to prepare to earn Eagle. The other thing that will be covered are appropriate ways for families to support their sons in the Climb to Eagle.
The rank of Eagle is earned by the boy and the level of support should be kept to a few areas that will be discussed.

National Youth Leadership Training
National Youth Leadership Training is a premier leadership development course for youth. It introduces the key elements of leadership and build upon the Troop Leader Training that is offered within your troop.
It is scheduled for June 19-24 at Hidden Valley Scout REservation and is open to youth who are 13 years of age as of June 1, 2011 and have Scoutmaster’s permission to attend. It is important that NYLT is for youth who have high potential for leadership. It is not a remedial program.
Youth should be comfortable away from home and it is not recommended that this be the first long=term camping experience. NYLT is an intensive week that will prepare your youth to lead by providing them skills, experience, and confidence to lead in your unit.
The application is available at 2011 NYLT Participant Application
Previous attendees and staff are encouraged to apply at NEW BIRTH OF FREEDOM COUNCIL NYLT CADRE APPLICATION – 2011

New Cub Scout Roundtable Chair
We are happy to congratulate Christina Fields for the past two years of contribution to the Cub Scout Roundtable. Christina is returning to school to begin work on her Master’s Degree. We thank Christina for her commitment to Scouting as a leader and then as the Cub Roundtable Commissioner.
We also have the opportunity to welcome Tracey Cavins as our new Cub Roundtable Commissioner. Most recently, Tracey served as the Committee Chair for Pack 121 in Shippensburg. Tracey has also served as the Camp Director for our Day Camp.
Tracey has many years of experience in scouting having served as a Den Leader, Cubmaster, Committee Chair and all the other positions and duties required for a successful Cub Scout Pack. Our Day Camp has always achieved National Accreditation status while she was the Camp Director and her units have earned many Quality Unit Citations.
Now we have the chance to learn from her expereinces and yours as she moderates our monthly Roundtable discussions the 2nd Tuesday of each month at King Street Church.
Come out to Roundtable to see what is happening and to share in the fun.
