Boating
The waterfront at Hidden Valley is a great setting for Scouts to earn merit badges like Canoeing and Rowing, and work on other opportunities like Kayaking BSA.
Canoeing Merit Badge
Scouts must qualify as “swimmers” on their swimming ability test and should be ready for a lot of hard work and tons of fun. Scouts will work on developing the skills that make canoeing an enjoyable lifelong endeavor. Scouts may wish to bring knee pads.
Rowing Merit Badge
Of the boating merit badges, this is often the one that requires the most practice. Scouts must quality as a “swimmer” to take Rowing.
Kayaking BSA
Kayaking BSA provides an introduction to kayaking skills and safety procedures and serves as a program opportunity for Boy Scout troops in camp or out. Mastery of Kayaking BSA skills is a first critical step towards satisfying Safety Afloat guidelines for safe kayak excursions.
