Climbing
Climbing is not a sport that requires tremendous muscular strength; it demands mental toughness and the willingness to practice hard to master a set of skills. The adventure of climbing can also provide a new way to enjoy the outdoors.
Hidden Valley’s climbing area includes a 40′ high climbing tower along with a bouldering wall. Climbing merit badge is popular among campers and there are no prerequisites to take this badge. All climbing programs are held weather-permitting. The safety of every camper while climbing is the camp staff’s primary concern and we pride ourselves on making each camper feel safe as they participate in our climbing program. All Climbing merit badge participants also learn proper climbing safety and belaying techniques. In addition to Climbing merit badge sessions, there are open program opportunities built into the camp schedule for other Scouts to climb.
All climbers must provide a special “Parental Informed Consent Agreement for Climbing/Rappelling Activities” signed by both parents/guardians.
