Just a reminder that May 1, 2012 is the deadline for units to make their final summer camp payments for all Webelos, Boy Scout and Cub Scout Resident Camp participants in order to receive the discounted rates.  Payments received after that date will be subject to a $25 per participant fee increase. Regrettably, the Hidden Valley Mountain Man Program scheduled for June 17-23, 2012 has been cancelled. Registrations received to date were, unfortunately, not enough to proceed with the program. Participants who have already signed up for the program have been notified. Feel free to check out our other available weeks of camp listed below. It’s time to get our camps ready for another fantastic summer camping season! We are looking for workers of all skill levels to help with a variety of projects at both of our council camps on the following days:

• Hidden Valley Scout Reservation, May 5, 2012 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
• Camp Tuckahoe, June 9, 2012 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

This is a rain or shine event and lunch will be provided. Can’t wait to see you there!

Situated on 830+ acres near Loysville, PA, Hidden Valley has been in operation since 1927. With an abundance of facilities for both summer and year-round camping opportunities for your unit’s use, Hidden Valley is a great place to camp all year long.

With a year-round heated and air-conditioned dining hall with seating for 300 and nine cabins of various sizes available for rental, Hidden Valley also features a shower building that’s open year-round along with a well-stocked trading post. Sherman’s Creek runs through Hidden Valley, providing lots of great fishing spots for everyone.

Boy Scout summer campers will be able to select from a wide variety of merit badge offerings, with older Scouts also being able to test their skills on Hidden Valley’s impressive climbing tower. There’s also a terrific first-year camper program designed to help newer Boy Scouts get a fast start along the advancement trail.

There’s been a date change for this fall’s “The Great Sherman’s Creek Rendezvous” that we wanted to let everyone know about. All units in the council can now plan to the “Great Rendezvous” at Hidden Valley from October 12-14, which is one weekend later than originally planned. This change was approved by the Executive Board to avoid conflicting with Penn State’s homecoming football game against Northwestern on Saturday, October 5.

Planning for this event is well underway and the weekend is sure to be action-packed for Scouts of all ages. Please update your unit’s calendar for the new dates because your unit won’t want to miss out on this “Great Rendezvous.”
