Thunderbird Lodge

Situated on 830+ acres in Perry County, Hidden Valley Scout Reservation has been in operation since 1927 and offers a premier year-round cabin camping facilities for the use of Scout Troop and Packs, as well as church groups, corporate retreats and other organizations in south-central Pennsylvania.

Hidden Valley has eight winter lodges, each heated by a propane furnace and a wood stove.  Each lodge has tables, cooking facilities and running water, and has bunks and mattresses for between 10 and 65 occupants, depending on the individual lodge. One lodge has indoor restroom facilities, while the others have nearby outdoor latrines.  Additionally, year-round hot shower facilities are available to all campers.

In addition to the residence lodges, the camp also has a heated year-round dining hall, with a capacity of 300 with full commercial kitchen.

A full-time Camp Ranger lives at the camp and, on weekends, are assisted by several trained members of the Council’s Campmaster Corps, whose primary responsibilities are to assist campers with programs, to ensure that the facilities are functioning as intended, and to handle any emergencies which might arise.

Lodges are rented on a weekend basis, but separate arrangements can be made for those groups which desire to use the facilities on a longer or daily basis.  Daily rentals on weekends are permitted only when the cabin is not sought by a group for the entire weekend.
