Indian Steps Scout gains some publicity!
In a recent article, the York Daily Record highlighted Life Scout Chase Summers and his quest for the rank of Eagle. This just goes to show that the efforts of our scouts do not go unnoticed. Keep up the great work Chase and all the other scouts out there making a positive impact in the community!

New Camp Card Fundraiser
There is a new fundraising opportunity for units to help raise money just in time for camp payments: the camp card. This discount card features offers from McDonald’s, Subway, Karns Quality Foods, Heritage Hills Mini Golf and the Mechanicsburg and York Scout Shops. The card costs $5.oo with the unit keeping 50% of all sales with excess cards can able to be returned. More details can be found in the Camp Card Guidebook including discount details, timeline of the sale and how to register.
Units have until April 23rd to register for this sale by emailing the registration form to Sarah at sarah.darr@scouting.org.
Roundtable Change!!!!
A reminder that the roundtable for April is on the 12 th and NOT this evening on the 5th! Next week it will be at the usual location of Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Leader Heights at 7 PM.
New District Name Needed
With the recent redrawing of the district lines, the units in the Spring Grove school district will be joining the Blue and Grey District while the Scouters in units located in the York Suburban school district will be joining the Indian Steps District. These changes will occur on June 1st.
As part of this process there will be a new name for each of the newly configured areas. If you have any suggestions for the new Souteastern York district name please email them to brian.bramble@scouting.org by April 15th. From these names three will be selected and their will be a vote at the May roundtable with the new district name released at Program Launch on June 6 at Camp Tuckahoe.
Spring Camporee – Pioneering Fun!
The 2012 Spring Camporee will be held the weekend of April 27-29 at the Summit Grove Campground in New Freedom. The weekend is Pioneering themed and will feature a catapult competition! Life to Eagle Seminar
The next Life to Eagle Seminar will be held on March 15, 2012 at 7 PM. Troop 48 will be hosting the seminar at Glen Rock Ambulance Club (59 Water Street, Glen Rock, PA 17327). This program is open to Life Scouts who are looking at taking that next step to be an Eagle Scout! RSVP for this seminar by emailing Brian Bramble at brian.bramble@scouting.org .
Day Camp Staff is Looking for You!
The 2012 Day Camp will take place at the Izzak Walton League in Dallastown this July 16-20 with the theme being – Dinosaurs!
There is still room for staff for this summer especially in the:
- Medical Officer
- Fishing
- Cub Skills
- Sports and Games
In addition to a tshirt and patch, being a member of the staff (for the entire week) lets your registered Cub Scout son come to camp that week for free!
