Dinosaur Adventure

Do you dig being a Cub Scout? Join us for a week full of prehistoric adventures, mysteries and surprises on July 16-20, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Shermans Dale Lions Club Park.
Packs are asked to coordinate registrations. Forms required for registration should be turned in with your check made out to the New Birth of Freedom Council, One Baden Powell Lane, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.

2012 Belt Loop College
The Belt loop college will start at 9am today. Registration will be start at 8:15. We only received a light dusting of snow. Please use caution when you travel . Please remember to dress warm for BB and Archery.
Holy Popcorn Batman
The results are in and the Great Oliver Perry District sold a total of 57,540.00 in combined popcorn and candles. This is a 19.9% increase over last years total of $46,114.50. I would like to thank all the Scouts , Leaders and Families for their support in this council fundraiser. This sale has allowed the scouts to take ownership and responsibilty to raise their own funds to support going to camp and other activities. This District has the best volunteers. Thanks again for all your support and setting the bar high.
Webe-O-Lympics
Troop 7 is hosting ths First Annual Webe-O-Lympics for any Oliver Perry Webelo 1 or 2 Scouts on Saturday October 22,2011 at the Hidden Valley Tree Farm. This event is an individual competition to test Scout Skills in 6 different areas. Lashing, Obstacle Course, Push Ups/Sit ups, Square Knots , Orienteering and Tarp Shelters. Each scout will be individually timed and /or scored. The fastest or highest scored Scout to complete each event will earn a medal for his accomplishment and the combined scores of all events will determine Oliver Perry’s Webelo of the year. Scouts may come on an individual bases. Please follow instructions below.
When: Saturday October 22, 2011 (Rain or Shine)

Where: Hidden Valley Tree Farm
Who: Any OLiver Perry Webelo 1 or 2
Attire: Class B or old clothes ( may get dirty)

Oliver Perry Fall Camporee
All boyscouts and webelos are invited to attend this years Fall Camporee ‘Point me in the right direction’. Planned activities will be related to orientiering , navigation, and geocaching. Scouts should come prepared with a compass or GPS unit. Also pencils ,clipboard, rulers, and page protector to keep map dry if it is raining. Maps will be provided. Camping will be available on the loop at HVSR or at the tree farm. Please check in at the Wagner Training Center on Friday from 4pm-8pm. The cost is $10.00 for Scouts and $5.00 for adults. Meetings Rescheduled
The Oliver Perry District Meeting ans Roundtable schedule for Thursday September 8, at HIdden Valley have been canceled. THe meetings will be held on Thursday Sept 15, at Hidden Valley beginning at 7pm. Scoutmasters are invited along with their SPLS to help plan the District Klondike.
The Great Oliver Perry District Picnic
Get ready for an awesome evening of great fellowship and recognition. Our picnic will be Thursday June 9 at 6pm at the boyscout pavillion at Hidden Valley. All scouts and their familes are invited to attend. Please bring your favorite dish to share. The District will supply all the hamburgers, hot dogs , drinks and paper products. You can rsvp to joann.booth@ scouting .org. We do have a sign up sheet circulating through email. We will be awarding the District Award of Merit and other special recognitions to our volunteers.
Silver Beaver
The Oliver Perry District would like to congratulate Jim Reed as the first recipient of the New Birth of Freedoms Silver Beaver Award. Jim received the hightest honor a council can give to a volunteer on Monday May 2, at the Holiday Inn, New Cumberland. Jim is currently the trianing chair for the district. Please extend him a thank you for all he does for scouting.
Cub Scout Bike Rodeo

All scouts must bring their own bikes and helmets (knee pads and elbow pads are optional). Each scout will receive a patch after the event.
Bike Rodeo is sponsored by Pack 56, Cubmaster Ken Little and is to be held at the Marysville Lions Club Park on May 1st. Registration followed by a bike inspection begins at 1:30pm with the main event starting at 2:00pm. The event will end by 5:00pm.
Siblings and brownies may participate at $5.00 each at their own risk. However, there may be some stations that will be restricted due to age of participant (ie. too young or too old) that will be determined by the event director and will be posted at the stations.
A rain date is scheduled for Sunday May 15. Same time and location. It is your responsibility to call one of the following numbers if there is inclement weather the day of the event: Joann Booth at (cell) 991-8911 or home 438-3134.
You can pre-register your scout by filling out the registration form and mailing it with your payment to New Birth of Freedom Council, One Baden Powell Lane, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, prior to April 27. Please make checks payable to New Birth of Freedom Council, with Account #6138 on the memo line. Cubs and others may also register the day of the event at a cost of $10 each.
