Dr. Franklin R. Herron, Jr.

herronDr. Franklin R. Herron, Jr. has devoted both his personal and professional life to youth development. Throughout his long career as an educator, both in the classroom and as an administrator, Frank has always been focused on the youth whose lives he touched.

An Eagle Scout and Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, Frank’s tenure as an adult leader has included service as a Tiger Coach, Den Leader, Webelos Den Leader, Assistant Cubmaster and Cubmaster for Pack 69 as well as service as a merit badge counselor, committee member and Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 69. He also served as committee chair for Crew 2609.

Frank has also served as a member of the York-Adams Area Council and New Birth of Freedom Council Executive Boards since 2001. He is also passionate in his role as an adult adviser in the Order of the Arrow, where he currently serves as the adviser to the Lodge’s Vice Chief of Operations. His service to the Order of the Arrow was recognized in 2011 with the presentation of the OA Founder’s Award.

Frank has been a member of the Red Lion/Dallastown Rotary Club since 2007. While raising his sons, he helped coach soccer and baseball teams and also served as a referee. Frank is an active member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church, having served as youth fellowship leader, toddler baby-sitter, Sunday school teacher and College Connection Leader.

Even after his retirement as superintendent of the Red Lion School District, this Scouter continues to remain active in the educational community, currently serving as an adjunct professor and advisor at York College.
