Welcome Peter Keck – New Hidden Valley Ranger

peter keckPeter D. Keck joined the New Birth of Freedom Council staff on August 1 as Camp Ranger at Hidden Valley Scout Reservation.  An Eagle Scout, Peter is a 2009 graduate of Paul Smith’s College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation, Adventure Travel and Ecotourism.

Since May 2014, Peter has been working as an Electrician’s Apprentice in Gabriels, NY.  Prior to that, Peter worked with youth with behavioral challenges as a Residential Counselor/Wilderness Coordinator at Mountain Lake Children’s Residence in Lake Placid, NY before taking on a role as Direct Support Professional at Mountain Lake Services (also in Lake Placid) working with individuals with various developmental disabilities including Downs Syndrome, intellectual disabilities and persons on the autism spectrum.

Peter is also an avid outdoorsman.  He has experience as an outfitting assistant for multi-day canoe trips at Saranac Lake, NY, and sea kayak treks in Bar Harbor, ME.

Peter has also worked at Camp Rodney (Del-Mar-Va Council) as Assistant Aquatics Director (summers 2006-2007), Aquatics Instructor ( 2004-2005) and as a counselor-in-training (2003).

We’re excited to welcome Peter to the New Birth of Freedom Council Scouting family.
