14 New Merit Badges To Be Offered at Hidden Valley and Tuckahoe This Summer

More than 50 different merit badges, including 14 new merit badges not offered last year, will be available during all Boy Scout weeks at both Hidden Valley and Camp Tuckahoe this summer.

The 14 new merit badges being offered this summer include:

  • Chemistry
  • Citizenship in the Nation
  • Communication
  • Cooking
  • Digital Technology
  • Game Design
  • Indian Lore
  • Insect Study
  • Mining in Society
  • Nuclear Science
  • Oceanography
  • Painting
  • Photography 
  • Sports

A total of 11 Eagle-required merit badges are available each week of Boy Scout summer camp, including Camping, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Communication, Cooking, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Science, First Aid, Lifesaving, Personal Fitness and Swimming.

In addition to these merit badge opportunities, both Hidden Valley and Tuckahoe offer first-year camper programs specially designed to help a new Scout on his patch toward First Class.  Daily classes will allow him to practice basic Scouting skills and experience much of what a summer camp has to offer.  Ambitious first-year campers will even have time in their schedules to work on a merit badge or two!
