Chainsaw Safety Training at Hidden Valley

Have you ever wanted to learn to safely operate a chainsaw? Do you like to lend a hand when possible with cleanup around camp?

If the answer to either or both of these questions is YES, then CHECK THIS OUT!

The official BSA Chainsaw Safety Course will offered at Hidden Valley Scout Reservation on March 16, 2019! The course will begin at 9:00 AM and generally runs about 6 hours (depending on the number of participants).

This course focuses on the proper and safe operation of chainsaws, chainsaw maintenance & care, and specific to BSA policies. The successful completion of this course is required to operate a chainsaw on property.

  • Participants must be over the age of 18
  • All participants must wear or bring sturdy (leather) boots, long durable pants (blue jeans or other work pants), and appropriate layers to be comfortable outdoors for a few hours.
  • Participants are welcome and encouraged to bring personal equipment including saws, helmets, chaps, ear plugs, and leather gloves, HOWEVER, all personal equipment will be inspected by the Camp Ranger prior to operation to ensure it meets with BSA standards.
