2019 University of Scouting

The 2019 New Birth of Freedom Council University of Scouting is being held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, from 8:00am-4:00pm, at Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg.  This event is packed full of supplemental trainings that any leader will find useful.  Over 85 courses will be offered this year and they range from recruiting Lion Cubs to trail cooking to high adventure bases, and everything in between.  There are five colleges in the University of Scouting, offering classes for the newest den leader through the most seasoned district leader.

The colleges are:

  • The College of Cub Scouting
  • The College of Scouts BSA
  • The College of Adventure Scouting
  • The College of General Programs
  • The College of Commissioner Science

2019 University of Scouting Course Catalog

Some classes in the Colleges of Adventure Scouting, Scouts BSA, and General Programs are open to youth, as young as 10 years old.  The University of Scouting has over 20 classes open to Venturers, Den Chiefs, and other Scouts!

Online registration at https://nbf.tentaroo.com will close at midnight Sunday, November 10, 2019.  The per person registration fee includes attendance at six University of  Scouting courses, a patch, morning refreshments, and lunch.

• Students and others taking classes. Fee $25
• Instructors and Staff taking classes. Fee $20.
• Instructors and Staff not taking classes. Fee $15.
• Youth taking classes offered to youth. Fee $15

Pre-registration is important – The anticipated attendance requires advance scheduling. To ensure the best possibility of attending your desired courses, early registration is essential. Some classes sell out.  Those walk-ins registering onsite will be charged the full $35.00 registration fee and will receive course assignments based on availability of space in the classes. Classes will be assigned on a first come, first served, basis until classes are full.
