5 Things Your Unit Can Do to Recruit More Scouts

Whether you are a Pack, Troop, Crew, or Ship here are 5 great ideas of what you can do now to help recruit new Scouts into your program!

Option 1: If you HAVEN’T held your unit’s recruitment night(s) yet:

  1. Activate your parents!  Energetic, engaged parents will be a big boost to your recruitment efforts.
  2. Reach out to your neighborhood school.  Do whatever you can to make helping them easier.
  3. Update your pin at www.BeAScout.org.
  4. Friendstorming.  Make a list of families to personally invite to join Scouting.  See our instructions and resources here.
  5. Use Social Media.  Geofencing.  Post Invitations.  Share parent testimonials.

Option 2: If you have already held your unit recruitment night(s):

  1. Activate your parents!  Get them involved in the program, assign single jobs, not positions.
  2. Check your leads and online applications.  Don’t neglect those who may have joined later.
  3. Conduct your Bobcat (Cub Scouts) and Scout (Scouts BSA) programs.  Award your Scouts right away!  This gives them a sense of belonging
  4. Friendstorming.  Make a list of families to personally invite to join Scouting.  See our instructions and resources here.
  5. Have FUN!  Have an NFA (Normal Friend Activity) event.  Learn more about holding and NFA as part of our October Membership Minute.
