December Membership Minute – The Gift of Scouting

As we enter the joyous holiday season let us ALL OFFER THE GIFT OF SCOUTING in three ways:

  1. When with your family and friends talk up the benefits of Scouting for our youth and their parents. Give them the GIFT OF SCOUTING.  Research shows that our youth members join because they or their parents have been in contact with a friend or family member who has recommended the Boy Scouts of America.
  2. Look around you, and agree to step in to help in another function with your Pack, Troop, Crew, Ship or District. We all joke about how it is only one hour a week but doesn’t your schedule really have more time for IMPORTANT youth development that TRULY makes our Society BETTER.  Invite back adult leaders who really helped when you were a Scout or Scouter in the past…Give them  THE GIFT OF SCOUTING.
  3. Give YOURSELF the GIFT OF SCOUTING. Volunteer for a position that directly interacts with the YOUTH IN SCOUTING, where you can witness first hand the PURE JOY on a Scout’s face when they receive advancement, participate in the Pinewood Derby, go on their first camping trip, experience their first week at summer camp, or earn their Eagle Scout Rank.

Let us ALL give THE GIFT OF SCOUTING this holiday season and THROUGHOUT the year!

Wishing you and yours a Happy and Joyous Holiday Season and a FUN Scouting New Year!
