Council Reception Honors Silver Beaver and District Award of Merit Recipients

The New Birth of Freedom Council is proud to share the highlights from a truly inspiring evening at the 2025 Council Recognition Reception, held on Saturday, May 3 at Camp Tuckahoe in Dillsburg, PA. This annual event is one of the most meaningful traditions in our Scouting community—a time to honor dedicated volunteers who have gone above and beyond in service to youth and Scouting values.

Recognizing Our 2025 Silver Beaver Award Recipients

We were thrilled to present the Silver Beaver Award, Scouting America’s highest honor at the council level, to five exceptional leaders who have demonstrated unwavering commitment, leadership, and service. Please join us in congratulating:

  • James George – Executive Board Member

  • Barbara Guise – Past Council Training Chair and Wood Badge Course Director

  • Barbara Hanna – Battlefield District Adventure Camp Director, trainer, and Troop 84G Committee Member

  • Patrick McCormack – Long-time summer camp staff member and former camp director at Hidden Valley and Tuckahoe

  • Rob Rowley – Former Committee Chair for Pack and Troop 312, and dedicated camp projects volunteer

Each of these recipients exemplifies the values of Scouting through their passion, perseverance, and tireless support of our youth.

Celebrating District Award of Merit Recipients

In addition to the Silver Beaver recipients, the Council also proudly recognized outstanding volunteers from across our districts with the District Award of Merit—the highest honor a district can bestow upon a Scouter. Congratulations to the following honorees:

  • Battlefield District: Ernie Finfrock and Kevin DePaulis

  • Conococheague District: Dean Rudy

  • Heritage Trails District: Amy Zentz and Scott Gonzalez

  • Keystone Capital District: Nick Zingone, Clint Cullison, and Abraham Leshko
