Year-Round Camping Policies

Scouts and leaders must uphold all tenets of the Scout Oath and Law. Campers must report all accidents, injuries, or lost persons to the Camp Ranger immediately. Violations of BSA Policies or the following rules may result in individual campers or groups being dismissed from camp property. Campers are responsible for any damages they cause to camp property.

Vehicle and Parking Regulations: Vehicles and trailers may only be parked in areas approved by the Camp Ranger. Golf carts and vehicles are not allowed in camp unless approved for disabled campers or program support. The camp speed limit is 10 mph. Passengers cannot ride in truck beds.

Day Trips and Hiking: Units must inform the Camp Ranger before leaving camp for trips or hikes.

Campsite Inspection: The Camp Ranger must inspect and approve each campsite or cabin before departure.

Trash Disposal: Campers must use the camp dumpster or take trash with them upon leaving.

Noise Control: Keep noise contained to your campsite or cabin. Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Fires: Fires are permitted only in designated campfire rings and must be attended at all times. No outside firewood is allowed, and campers may not cut live or standing trees. Power tools are prohibited for cutting firewood.

Wildlife and Firearms: Capturing or hunting animals and the use of firearms are strictly forbidden.

Smoke Alarms and Cabin Equipment: Do not disable smoke alarms or move/remove mattresses and cots from cabins.

Smoking: Smoking is only allowed in designated areas.

Adult Supervision: At least two adult leaders must always supervise campers. Adults may not be alone with youth, except for their own child.

Prohibited Items: Alcohol, fireworks, portable generators, and electric or liquid fuel heaters are not allowed.

Valuables: Secure valuables; the camp is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Pets: Pets are not allowed except with the Camp Ranger’s permission.

Restricted Areas: Avoid maintenance areas, storage facilities, and construction sites.

Swimming and Boating: Swimming and boating activities are not authorized.

Fishing Rules: Follow all PA Fish Commission regulations. Fishing is prohibited near dams, spillways, and marked off-limit areas.

All leaders are expected to follow and enforce all the camp rules as outlined above.

Cold-Weather Camping Guidance

In addition to the above camp rules, Scouts and leaders must also adhere to these additional requirements during the winter months.

Buddy System Required: Campers must always travel with a buddy and stay within the central camp area near camp roads. Back trail hiking is only permitted in groups with adult supervision. Inform adults of your location.

Camp Roadway Safety: Snow piles along camp roads limit visibility. Always check both directions before stepping onto a road.

No Snow Cave Construction: Snow caves in piles or drifts are prohibited due to the risk of collapse.

No Ice or Snow Removal from Buildings: Removing hanging ice or snow is dangerous and can cause serious injury or death.

Clothing Drying Restrictions: Do not dry clothes directly on wood stoves or heaters. Keep clothing at least 12 inches away to prevent melting or burning.

No Sleeping in Vehicles with Engine Running: This is prohibited due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

No Flames in Tents: Open flames or heaters are not allowed in tents due to fire and ventilation hazards.

Ice Safety: Walking or skating on the lake or creek is prohibited due to dangerous thin ice.

Sledding in Designated Areas Only: Use only approved areas for sledding to avoid injury.

No Personal Heaters: Gas or electric personal heaters are not allowed in camp.
