The New Birth of Freedom Council is committed to ensuring every Scout has the opportunity to participate in a summer outdoor experience. The Campership Fund was created to assist Scouts who may not be able to attend camp without financial support. All application information is handled with strict confidentiality.
Due to limited funding, we encourage only those with genuine financial need to apply. Scouts are expected to contribute to their Scouting experience, and units should support fundraising efforts. Demonstrating self-reliance is a key component of the Scouting program. A parent/guardian and a unit leader must verify the need for Council assistance.
Applications are evaluated strictly on financial need. Please provide complete information on your financial situation and the necessity of assistance. Typically, up to 50% of the camp fee is covered, though a limited number of grants exceeding this amount may be available based on need.
Submitting an application does not guarantee a campership or a specific amount.
Key considerations:
- Camperships are only for New Birth of Freedom Council Scouts attending in-council summer camp programs.
- Each Scout must submit a separate application for financial aid.
- Assistance is limited to one camp/week/session per Scout.
- The application deadline is April 11, 2025. Late applications may be accepted, but funds may already be allocated.
- All applications are confidential, and families will be notified of decisions after review.
- Recipients are encouraged to write a letter to the Council about their camp experience.
- The requested amount does not guarantee the grant amount.
- Unit approval and all required signatures are mandatory. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
- Eligibility is based on family income and size, with consideration for extenuating circumstances (please refer to the application for current family income guidelines).
Please ensure all information is complete before submission.
2025 application process will open on October 1, 2024.
