From Scout to Leader: Your NYLT Experience Starts Here

Youth troop leaders and those aspiring to be one should attend the National Youth Leadership Training course! NYLT is an exciting, action-packed program designed to help youth learn and practice leadership skills that will help them succeed in Scouting and in life!

The course will take place at Hidden Valley Scout Reservation from June 14-19. Youth learn to chart a course to better leadership and performance with the skills they can take back and implement within their unit.

NYLT models a month in a unit’s life. The course uses the patrol method, and patrols are selected carefully by staff to maximize the experience for all participants. Each of the first four days in the course roughly represents a week in a troop or crew. Daily patrol leaders’ council and patrol meetings lead to an overnight outpost experience.

To be considered for the course, Scouts must complete the Introduction to Leadership Skills course in their troop or crew, receive approval from their unit leader, be 14 years old or 13 years old and have completed 8th grade, be at least First Class rank if registered in a troop, be comfortable camping and cooking outdoors, and commit to attending the entire course.

Only 48 spaces are available, and a $50 non-refundable deposit is required, so register today!
