How Summer Camp Enhances Your Unit's Program

Enhanced Expertise

Summer camp offers Scouts of all ages the chance to learn skills like orienteering, kayaking, and fire-building. They can then bring this knowledge back to their units and teach others.

Leadership Opportunities

Camp often offers leadership roles for Scouts, fostering skills in delegation, decision-making, and team management that can be applied in unit activities and community service projects.

Stronger Bonds

Spending extended time together at camp strengthens relationships among youth members, creating a more cohesive and supportive environment throughout the year.

New Friendships

Scouts meet peers from other units and regions, expanding their network of Scouting friends and potential collaboration opportunities for joint activities or events.

Renewed Enthusiasm

Experiencing new adventures and challenges at camp reinvigorates Scouts’ passion, inspiring them to actively participate in meetings, outings, and advancement opportunities.

Goal Setting

Camp often encourages Scouts to set personal goals, such as earning badges or mastering outdoor skills, which motivates them to continue striving for achievements within their unit.

Exposure to Diversity

Camp exposes Scouts to diverse program offerings beyond what their units typically provides, such as high-adventure activities, environmental stewardship projects, and cultural exchanges.

Skill Acquisition

Scouts acquire new skills or advance existing ones at camp, introducing fresh ideas and activities that can be integrated into their unit’s program calendar to keep activities engaging and relevant.

Personal Development

Scouts develop resilience, independence, and self-confidence at camp, qualities that enhance their ability to contribute positively to their unit and take on leadership roles within their community.
