Pioneer Training Update
Every Scout deserves a trained leader. Training is key to putting on a quality program and currently Pioneer district has almost 55.4% registered positions considered trained.
Each month the district training committee will highlight a position with the intention of improving our program through leader training. Each position provides a key role in the impact of the program. This month we are going to focus on Program Leadership.
Program Leadership or Front-Line Leadership consists of the leaders that have direct contact with the youth and who are the primary deliverers of our program. This consists of Den Leaders, Cubmasters, Scoutmasters and all of their assistants.
No matter how good the program is, no matter how many youth we recruit, and no matter how well organized our committees are, if we do not have trained front-line leaders that are delivering that program, we are not going to retain our youth and grow. This is a key visible part of our program. These are the leaders that our Scouts and their families see and base their view of the quality of our program on.
In Pioneer district we currently have:
20 Cubmasters – 20 Trained
11 Assistant Cubmasters – 8 Trained
56 Den Leaders – 47 Trained
16 Assistant Den Leaders – 13 Trained
29 Scoutmasters – 24 Trained
130 Assistant Scoutmasters – 50 Trained
262 Total – 160 Trained / 102 NOT TRAINED
Training is the easy part of being a leader. Not having the training only complicates your role. Many of the challenges you face as a leader can be solved by training or through your peers you network with at training events.
f you fill multiple roles, each position has its own training requirements. If this applies to you, check your training record to ensure you are trained in each position registered. This is especially important heading into the new program year as some of our roles have changed.
While the focus this month is on Program Leadership, all leaders are encouraged to check their training status and complete position specific training.
Remember each bit of training we complete helps out youth out many times over.
