A familiar face to many at Hidden Valley Scout Reservation, Andy Mahalchick has joined the New Birth of Freedom Council’s staff as Hidden Valley’s camp ranger.
Andy is already very well acquainted with Hidden Valley, having invested countless hours of volunteer service at the camp. Andy has also served on summer camp staff at Hidden Valley on the rifle range, as assistant camp ranger, and as the camp’s health officer.
An Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, Andy brings a wealth of career experiences in the building trades to his new role, including working as a carpenter, plumber, heavy equipment operator, and siding, window, and trim installer.
A former Keystone Area Council’s Executive Board member, Andy’s career includes experience as an emergency medical technician, Deputy Assistant Administrator, and Assistant Chief of Operations at Harrisburg River Rescue, where he ran thousands of ambulance calls. Andy has also worked as Chief of Operations/Administrator at Tri-Community Ambulance in Steelton, PA, rope rescue/rappelling instructor for the paramedic program at Harrisburg Area Community College, a 911 telecommunicator for the Dauphin County of Public Safety, and Deputy Chief of the Borough of Steelton Fire Department.
