On September 10, the New Birth of Freedom Council formally rededicated the historic 1948 Camp Tuckahoe dining hall as the new council service center.

Once a gathering place where thousands of Scouts shared meals and memories, the building has been carefully restored to preserve its character—including its stone fireplaces, exposed beams, and original woodwork—while transforming it into a modern hub for Scouting.

The new Service Center consolidates council operations in one central location, providing meeting spaces, program support, and a welcoming home for Scouting families. It also features a full-service Scout Shop offering uniforms, awards, Pinewood Derby cars, and more.

The restoration was made possible through the sale of former service centers, preservation partnerships at Camp Tuckahoe, and grants from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Special thanks were extended to architect ByDesign Consultants, The DT Firm, general contractor Alexander Building Construction, the many subcontractors, and others who brought the project to life.

A ceremonial ribbon-cutting, joined by council leaders, State Senator Kristin Phillips-Hill, and Order of the Arrow Lodge chief Bryce Tobin representing the council’s youth, symbolized the community’s recommitment to Scouting’s mission.

This rededicated Service Center honors the legacy of Scouting in south-central Pennsylvania while ensuring future generations have the resources to grow as leaders guided by the Scout Oath and Law.
