Camp Tuckahoe is dedicated to providing an exhilarating and comprehensive program for both youth and adult campers. Our staff members are essential in teaching fundamental Scouting skills like knot tying, fire building, and outdoor cooking, while also guiding campers in exploring the natural world around them. Beyond these practical skills, we strive to create unforgettable experiences that campers will cherish for a lifetime. Staff Qualifications

  • Must be at least 15 years old. Scouts aged 14 are eligible for our Counselor in Training Program.
  • A Scouting background is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A positive attitude toward learning and teaching, with flexibility in schedule, position, and responsibilities.
  • Embrace the camp spirit with enthusiasm.
  • Most positions don’t require prior certifications; Camp Tuckahoe provides or funds position-specific training.
  • Exemplify the Scout Oath and Law, serving as a role model for staff and Scouts.
  • Offers are contingent on successful criminal, reference, and motor vehicle background checks.

Counselor in Training Program (CIT)

The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program at Camp Tuckahoe offers Scouts aged 14 hands-on experience as future camp staff. While CITs are unpaid, room and board are provided, allowing full focus on growth and learning.

CITs assist in various program areas, taking on increasing responsibilities such as teaching skills and supporting camp operations. A minimum two-week commitment is recommended, with options to stay the whole summer to experience all aspects of camp life. Earning merit badges is possible, but the main focus is developing skills to become an effective staff member.
