Build the Future

The Boy Scouts of America’s mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices throughout their lifetime. For over ten years, the New Birth of Freedom Council has delivered life-changing experiences to thousands of young people.  These experiences are based on the values found in the Scout Oath & Law. By financially supporting the New Birth of Freedom Council’s 2023 “Build the Future” annual Friends of Scouting (FOS) Campaign, you help further Scouting’s mission.

As you can see below, the New Birth of Freedom Council provides many essential services to our entire Scouting Family. These services are vital in supporting the high-quality Scouting experience expected when a young person enrolls in the program.

Conducting a Unit FOS presentation provides Scouting families, volunteers, and friends the opportunity to learn about our council and contribute financial resources to deliver Scouting here in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Perry, and York Counties. A 15-minute Family FOS presentation is conducted during unit gatherings such as a Pack Blue and Gold or Troop Court of Honor during February, March, or April.  A virtual Family FOS presentation can be arranged to address significant group gathering concerns.  Scouting needs your help to “Build the Future”; schedule a unit Family FOS presentation today by contacting your District Executive.

The FOS campaign is one of the New Birth of Freedom Council’s most significant sources of income generated to help support units deliver a quality program throughout the year.  Considering the total expenses in the Council’s operating budget, we invest approximately $150 per youth member annually to support our area’s units.

The $66 annual youth registration fee you pay goes directly to the national Boy Scouts of America for program development – none of it stays local with the New Birth of Freedom Council to help pay for any of our council’s operating costs.
