We Are A Scouting Family
For over 10 years, the New Birth of Freedom Council has delivered life-changing experiences to thousands of young people. These experiences are based on the values found in the Scout Oath and Law to better prepare young people throughout the course of their lifetime.
As our council continues its anniversary year, your financial support of the 2021 “We Are A Scouting Family” campaign is needed to help further Scouting’s mission here in south-central Pennsylvania. Through the New Birth of Freedom Council’s annual Friends of Scouting (FOS) Campaign, you can help contribute to that mission. By conducting a Friends of Scouting presentation in your unit, you provide Scouting families, volunteers, and friends the opportunity to learn about our council and contribute financial resources to deliver Scouting locally.
As you can see below the New Birth of Freedom Council provides so many important services to our entire Scouting Family. These services are vital in supporting the high-quality Scouting experience expected when a young person enrolls in the program.
Normally FOS presentations for packs, troops, and crews are conducted through a 15-minute presentation to families at a unit gathering. To address our current conditions we are pleased to announce a new virtual platform that can deliver a Friends of Scouting Presentation. We encourage all packs, troops, and crews to schedule a presentation with their District Scouting team during the months of February, March, or April to hear our story. A pack’s Blue and Gold Banquet or a troop’s Court of Honor are ideal times to conduct a presentation.
Haven’t scheduled your unit’s Family Friends of Scouting presentation? Please contact your District Executive to make those arrangements.
The Friends of Scouting campaign is one of the New Birth of Freedom Council’s largest sources of income generated to help support units in the delivery of a quality program throughout the year. When you take into account the total expenses in the Council’s operating budget, we invest approximately $150 per youth member annually in supporting the units in our area.
The $66 annual youth registration fee you pay goes directly to the national Boy Scouts of America for program development – none of it stays local with the New Birth of Freedom Council to help pay for any of our council’s operating costs.
