As we look ahead to the 2026-27 Scouting year, there is growing momentum across the New Birth of Freedom Council. Between major camp improvements, exciting program opportunities, and preparations for the Hidden Valley Centennial Camporee in May 2027, we’re building an outstanding future for Scouts and families throughout our council.
To help your unit get off to a strong start, we invite you to attend the 2026 Program Launch at Camp Tuckahoe on June 4, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:45 PM.
Program Launch is open to adult volunteers and parents and will feature informative sessions, exhibits from council committees, and vendor displays designed to help units plan for a successful Scouting year. Participants can also enjoy a complimentary dinner for up to four people per unit while connecting with fellow volunteers from across the council.
The evening’s General Session will officially launch promotion of the Hidden Valley Centennial Camporee, share practical ideas to strengthen unit health, review exciting capital improvements taking place at our camps, and highlight council initiatives aimed at growing membership and supporting unit success.
Information sessions include:
- Black Pug Introduction — We’re excited to introduce Black Pug, our new event registration platform, which will support online registration for camping programs, trainings, activities, and other council events. Black Pug offers a more modern, user-friendly experience for families, volunteers, and unit leaders, and will replace Tentaroo following Tentaroo’s announced discontinuation of operations.
- First-Time Popcorn and Nuts Sale Kernel Orientation — If you’re serving as your unit’s popcorn and nuts sale kernel for the first time this fall, this session is designed to help you get started with confidence.
Pre-registration is required, and the registration deadline is May 29, 2026, at 5:00 PM. Registration is now closed.
