For many families, BeAScout is their first introduction to your Scouting unit. It’s often the first place parents look when deciding which pack, troop, crew, or ship to contact.
On August 3, 2026, BeAScout will launch an updated experience designed to better answer the questions prospective families ask before reaching out to a unit. Units with complete and accurate information will make a stronger first impression and help families take the next step toward joining Scouting.
The updated BeAScout page will display information such as:
- Estimated cost to join
- Meeting day, time, and frequency
- Whether the unit charges additional dues
- Whether fundraising helps offset costs
- Whether prospective youth are encouraged to attend a trial visit
To support these improvements, several new fields have been added to the Unit Pin page in Organization Manager, including:
- Fundraising Helps Cover Costs
- Trial Visit Encouraged
- Unit Fee
- Meeting Schedule (Frequency, Day, Start Time, and End Time)
If you haven’t already done so, please take a few minutes to review and update your Unit Pin. Although your changes will not appear publicly until August 3, updating your information now will ensure families searching for Scouting in our area see accurate, complete, and helpful information the day the new BeAScout experience launches.
