Welcome to the Pioneer District
A district is a geographical area within the New Birth of Freedom Council that’s responsible for the growth and success of Scouting units in that area. Districts are a key part of the structure, and they help to ensure that the Scouting experience is positive and engaging for Scouts and their families.
The Pioneer District is led by a Key 3, which includes:
- District chair: a volunteer who leads the district
- District commissioner: a volunteer who is responsible for the unit service function
- District executive: A professional advisor who provides direct service to the district
The Pioneer District is responsible for:
- Membership: Organizing new Scouting units and recruiting new members and adult volunteers
- Fund development: Providing the district’s share of funds to the council’s operating budget
- Program: Helping Scouting units with camp promotion, community service, and other activities
- Unit service: Providing direct coaching and consultation to unit adults
Our district supports units in several ways; including:
- District Roundtable
- Recruitment Flyers and Other Resources
- Fundraisers
- Commissioner Service
Our district encourages your unit to participate in upcoming district programs such as:
- Pinewood Derby (Spring)
- Klondike Derby (Winter)
- Camporees (Spring/Fall)
- Merit Badge College (Winter/Spring)
Details and registration for upcoming programs will be posted on our Events webpage.
The District Committee meets monthly. If you are interested in becoming a district committee member or attending an upcoming district committee meeting, please contact the District Chair.
The Commissioners typically meet monthly. If you are interested in becoming a commissioner or attending an upcoming commissioner meeting, please contact the District Commissioner.
Each spring, the district officers and members are elected at the District Annual Meeting. Each unit’s Chartered Organization Representative is invited and is automatically a voting member at this meeting. Chartered Organization Representatives will receive an email in advance of the meeting with details.
Yours in Scouting,
