The Keystone Capital District plays an essential role in ensuring we meet our fair-share contribution to the council through a variety of impactful fundraising efforts. One of the primary initiatives is the Friends of Scouting (FOS) campaign. During this campaign, dedicated volunteers visit our local Cub Scout packs and Scout troops to share the importance of supporting Scouting programs through charitable contributions. In addition to Friends of Scouting, our district actively participates in two major product sales campaigns: Popcorn & Nuts and Camp Cards. These product sales not only provide individual Scout units with a chance to raise funds for their activities and adventures, but they also support the council as a whole. Scouts sell these products to the general public, offering quality items while also sharing the message of Scouting. Another significant contribution to our fundraising efforts comes from two highly successful fundraising breakfasts organized by the district. These breakfasts, held annually, bring together local businesses, community leaders, and other supporters from the Harrisburg and Hershey areas. The events not only raise awareness about the positive impact of Scouting on our youth but also generate substantial financial support. Each year, these breakfasts collectively raise over $100,000, which is directly invested into the programs and resources that ensure our Scouts have access to meaningful and enriching experiences.
These combined efforts allow the Keystone Capital District to support both our local Scout units and the broader New Birth of Freedom Council. Whether it’s through charitable contributions to Friends of Scouting, product sales, or fundraising events, every dollar raised helps ensure that Scouting continues to thrive in our community.
