The New Birth of Freedom Council will transition our online event registration platform from Tentaroo to Black Pug Software following a notification that Tentaroo will discontinue operations in October 2026.
To ensure a smooth transition:
- Tentaroo will continue to be used for 2026 Summer Camp and Cub Adventure Camp registrations
- All other event registrations will transition to Black Pug beginning around June 4, 2026
This phased approach allows us to complete the current camp season without disruption while preparing units and families for the new platform.
Why Black Pug
Black Pug is purpose-built for Scouting and is widely used by councils across the country. The platform goes beyond basic online registration to provide a comprehensive event management system—designed by Scouters, for Scouters.
Key capabilities include:
- Full event management (not just registration), supporting everything from camporees to summer camp
- Unit-friendly tools that allow leaders to manage registrations, make updates, and track participants
- Integrated reporting and financial tracking to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Mobile access and real-time data, making it easier for leaders to manage events on the go
Black Pug is also designed to streamline council operations and enhance the overall experience for units and families, aligning with how Scouting programs are delivered today.
What This Means for You
- Continue using Tentaroo for Summer Camp and Cub Adventure Camp (2026)
- Begin using Black Pug for all other events starting in early June
- Expect a more integrated and user-friendly registration experience moving forward
Get Started on June 4
Our Council Program Launch on June 4 will include a general session on using Black Pug. This session will:
- Walk through the registration process
- Highlight key features for unit leaders
- Provide practical guidance to ensure a smooth transition
This is an excellent opportunity to get familiar with the system ahead of broader rollout.
