Picking up Advancements at the Scout Shops:
Only restricted advancements as determined by the National organization through its online Scout Shop that have been inputted into Scoutbook or Scoutbook Plus can be purchased from the Scout Shop. It is the unit’s responsibility to input this data. Unrestricted advancements can be purchased without a Unit Advancement report, however, the unit is still responsible for inputting any of these unrestricted advancements into a person’s record either on Scoutbook or Scoutbook Plus.
The unit should come with a copy of their Unit Advancement Report, either an electronic version through Scoutbook or Scoutbook Plus, or a handwritten version of Scouting America Official Advancement Report found at www.scouting.org/forms can be used when access to Scoutbook or Scoutbook Plus is unavailable. It is the unit’s responsibility to record the advancements that are provided on the hand-written form.
Board of Review Signatures. Because entering rank advancement into Scoutbook Plus, either directly or via Scoutbook, and printing the system-generated Unit Advancement Reports typically occur sometime after boards of review are held, obtaining signatures on the report may not be practical. Therefore, after a board of review is held, it is permissible for board members to sign a completed copy of the Unit Advancement Report found at www.scouting.org/forms.This signed report may then be attached to the electronically generated report and submitted to the local council.
Replacement Merit Badges/Advancements
A person looking to purchase replacement merit badges should provide either an Individual Advancement Report, for Scoutbook, an old PO Advancement Report with the awards on it can be provided, or the completed blue cards.
