Seeking Prayers for Jack Carr’s Recovery

To the New Birth of Freedom Council Scouting Family,

Earlier this week, I was incredibly saddened to hear the news that Jack Carr, former Scout Executive of the Keystone Area Council and the first Director of Development for the New Birth of Freedom Council, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Jack, who retired in April 2011 after 32 years of service with the BSA, will be starting treatment soon at Johns Hopkins and asked that we share news of his situation with as many people as possible and ask for everyone’s prayers.

If you’d like to send Jack a card or message of support, his mailing address is 40 Ashley Drive, Dillsburg, PA 17019.  Jack is on a very restrictive liquid diet, so sending any food items is not suggested.  Jack’s email address, if you’d prefer to use that, is jfc40ashle@aol.com.  After a recent stay in the hospital, Jack shared that he is working to regain his strength, so no calls or visits please at this time.

Please keep Jack and his family in your thoughts and prayers and we’ll continue to provide updates here on how Jack is doing.

Yours in Scouting,

Ron Gardner
Scout Executive & CEO
