The New Birth of Freedom Council conducted its Seventh Annual Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in Founders Hall at the Milton Hershey School located in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Of the 245 young men who earned the rank of Eagle Scout as members of the Eagle Class of 2016, 125 of those Eagle Scouts participated in the event. In all, 715 people, including many prominent business and community leaders, were in attendance.
In addition to recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of our Eagle Scouts, this dinner also serves as the council’s largest fundraising event. In all, $120,785 was raised to support Scouting in the council.
Bub Manning (right), Principal at Quandel Construction Group, Inc., served as as Chairman of the 2016 dinner. Special thanks to all the members of the 2016 Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner Committee, which included Shawn Baile, Barbara Bowker, David Black, Raymond Cameron, Keith Clark, Ronald Drenevich, David Lavery, Jeffrey Lobach, James Pannebaker, James George, Shawn Gooden, Michael Kinney, Robert Scaer, William Scott, David Skerpon and Morton Spector.
The 2016 Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner Honoree was Gregory A. Smith (left), President of PSECU, which is headquartered in Harrisburg. Mr. Smith was selected for his outstanding leadership and service to the community, as well as for exemplifying the values and ideals of the Boy Scouts of America.
