The New Birth of Freedom Council is pleased to offer the 2018 Popcorn and Nuts Sale for units to fund their programs and to help financially support their local council. This fundraiser is a ready-made, turn-key, simple product sale that offers up to 40% commission to participating units.

In addition to the funds that will directly benefit units, the proceeds of this sale provide critical financial resources that the New Birth of Freedom Council depends upon to reinvest in providing service and support to units, such as providing two fully-staffed service centers with two Scout Shops in Mechanicsburg and York, four camping properties, a full-time professional staff, accident and liability insurance, council-wide activities and trainings, and much more.
By participating in this product sale, your unit helps build a strong and healthy local unit and local council, which will both build strong and healthy Scouts who will become tomorrow’s leaders!

2018 Vendors
For the upcoming Popcorn and Nuts Sale the New Birth of Freedom Council, BSA is pleased to announce that Whitley’s Peanuts will be returning again as our nuts vendor and Camp Masters will be our NEW vendor for popcorn!
Welcome Back Camp Masters!
Why switch popcorn vendors? In recent years, unit participation and popcorn sales have declined in our council.
In 2012, the New Birth of Freedom Council’s fall product sale had over 215 units participating and $1 million in total sales. Also, it is worth noting that Camp Masters was the popcorn vendor during that time.
In 2018, the fall product sale had 157 units participating and $631,000 in total sales. This loss of revenue during this time period has severely reduced the Council’s ability to provide resources and service to units and their Scouts. Units also deserve to have the very best products available to them to sell to the public and need to feel good about selling them. The Popcorn & Nuts Committee determined that a change needed to be made in order inject some new energy and excitement into the fall product sale for this year.
Popcorn Taste Test Results
The decision to move to Camp Masters for the 2018 sale was strongly influenced by input from 10 of the top-selling units in the Council regarding the 2017 sale. Feedback from our top-selling units shared at the meeting about the nuts products was very positive, however there were concerns about the pricing, packaging and quality of popcorn products being sold.
The meeting attendees also taste-tested nine of our previous vendor’s products against Camp Masters products. The results were overwhelming in favor of Camp Masters’ products. Click here to view the results.
Products
Camp Masters offers great tasting products, and most of them are available in attractive TINS. Prices are very comparable with the products that were offered during the previous sale. Most of Whitley’s products that were offered last year are available again this year. Camp Masters will also be offering a $30.00 Military Donation as well.

Order deadline is Tuesday, July 24, 2018. Products will be distributed on Friday, August 17th. Your unit Popcorn and Nuts Kernel will be notified where to pick up your product shortly after the order deadline.
Unit Commissions
The unit commissions for the 2018 sale remain the same from the previous year. Units can earn up to 40% on all product sales!
Rallies Help You Organize Your Sale Using Best Practices
Units are able to attend one of four Popcorn and Nuts Rallies in July to earn an additional 2% commission. The main theme of these rallies will be sharing best practices from successful units to help your unit have its best sale ever! See the information below for the details regarding each one. Units may register for the rally they wish to attend when they register for the sale.
Units may attend any rally. All rallies will begin at 7:00 PM. Order forms, product samples, Unit Guidebooks and other important sale information will be distributed.
Camp Masters Exclusive Motivational Leader Training – Featuring Michael Beck
It is highly recommended that all participating units try to attend this very special opportunity to learn how to significantly increase their sale results. Camp Masters has arranged for Michael Beck to share his proven techniques with us. View the invitation flyer here.

Prize Incentive Program
The Prize Incentive Program available to units will be through the National Supply Division of the BSA again this year. Check back soon to view the prize program flyer and additional information.
Prizes for all Scouts 
Any Scout selling at least $650 in total sales will receive a $25 gift card to the Mechanicsburg or York Scout Shop.

Camp Masters High Achiever Prizes
Camp Masters has rewards to motivate and congratulate Scouts who sell $3,000 and up! Scouts can choose a prize and GO FOR IT!
